Synthesia prices avatar video in minutes and credits. Every plan includes a monthly allowance of video minutes, and the paid plans add a pile of credits that pays for finished video and AI features such as dubbing. The numbers on this page come from Synthesia’s pricing page, which opens on yearly billing, so the monthly price is the one to look for. I spent several weeks with Synthesia 3.0 for my full review, and the allowances below are the part I had to work out by hand.
Yes, though only to try it. The free Basic plan gives you 10 minutes of video a month, 500 credits a month for AI features such as dubbing, and 9 avatars. Every video carries a watermark and cannot be downloaded as an MP4. That is enough to learn the editor and see what your script looks like on an avatar. It is not enough to publish anything, because without the download you cannot take the video out of Synthesia.
A finished minute of avatar video costs about 100 credits. On Starter, billed monthly at $29, you get 1,250 credits a month, which is about 12 extra minutes on top of the free 10. Pro at $89 monthly brings 6,000 credits, about 60 minutes. Yearly billing changes the shape of the deal: the whole year’s credits land up front, about 150 extra minutes a year on Starter and about 720 on Pro. A video can run up to 4 hours, so the ceiling is far above what any plan below Enterprise will pay for.

Yearly billing cuts Starter from $29 to $18 a month ($216 for the year) and Pro from $89 to $64 a month ($768 for the year). Starter unlocks the MP4 download, removes the watermark and lifts you to 125+ avatars and 3 personal avatars. Pro raises that to 180+ avatars and 5 personal avatars, and it is the first plan with API access. Custom studio avatars are a separate $1,000 a year on any plan, which is easy to miss when you compare plans. Enterprise has no public price and no cap on minutes.
| Model | Output | Credits | Cost on Starter | Cost on Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Avatar video | 1 min | 100 | $2.32 | $1.48 |
| AI Dubbing | 1 min | 80 | $1.86 | $1.19 |
Dollar figures are the job's credits divided by the plan's monthly allowance, times the plan's monthly price. Annual billing and intro prices are not applied.
A finished minute of avatar video is about 100 credits, and a minute of AI Dubbing is 80. Dubbing covers 70+ languages, or 140+ on Enterprise. The free 10 minutes a month sit on top of whatever credits you buy, so on a paid plan the first 10 minutes of the month cost nothing extra.

The free plan is a place to try the editor, not a place to make videos you can use. The watermark and the missing MP4 download both disappear on Starter, so that is the line between a trial and a tool.
Starter on yearly billing, for anyone who wants to use Synthesia seriously. At $18 a month you get downloads, no watermark and 125+ avatars, and about 150 extra minutes a year is plenty for short training clips. It will not cover a single 4-hour video. Pro makes sense when you produce training at volume: its 720 minutes cover about three videos of that length, and you get the API. I rate Synthesia for scripted training and multilingual L&D video, not casual social clips, and the plans fit that. If you only need a handful of minutes a month, stay on Basic until the watermark gets in your way.
Yes, with limits. The free Basic plan gives 10 minutes of video a month, 500 credits a month for AI features such as dubbing and 9 avatars. Videos are watermarked and cannot be downloaded as MP4.
Starter is $29 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly ($216 a year). Pro is $89 a month, or $64 a month billed yearly ($768 a year). Enterprise is custom pricing.
A finished minute of avatar video is about 100 credits. AI Dubbing costs 80 credits a minute.
Only on the free Basic plan, which also cannot download MP4. Starter and every plan above it remove the watermark and allow MP4 download.
Up to 4 hours and 150 scenes. Your plan's minute allowance is the real limit: Starter's extra 150 minutes a year will not cover a single 4-hour video, while Pro's 720 covers about three.
